    First morning in camp, a set of long faces are to be seen when we look at the pile of raw rations to be cooked up. Got over the difficulty however, after which faces widened out perceptibly. Went into a temporary election of officers resulting in the election of JW Towner Capt. AG McNeff 1st Lieutenant, Volney N Brown, Wm Parker, JW Towner, Horace Enders, James Franklin. Were detailed to enlist volunteers, privilege having been granted to fill up the company from the county if possible.
