    First day on guard have to stand 24 hours, 2 on and 4 off. The Chaplain (Rev AB Kendig) observed the exercise of his duty as chaplain of the regiment he showed by sound argument [sp] the justness of our cause and the unreasonableness of this gigantic rebellion.
