    Conducted the funeral services of Edwin Sparling of Co G. 1/2 mile East of Batesville in the soldier's burying ground. Flat Boats are being loaded with provisions to go to Jackson Port. Wrote letter home. Send C D some dispatches. 

    

    Our buried soldier leaves a wife and five children. God shield the widow and protect the fatherless.
