Sat 12, Camp 64
On the march at sunrise. Our brigade is rear guard today, all transportation is in advance. This long marching is very hard on the sick, all of the sick being taken with us. Passed two union families. One carried water out to the entire column, another demonstrated their sentiments by hurrahing for the union and waving of handkerchiefs.
Marched 23 miles over rough roads. Camped near a Cypress swamp.
