    A hard day's work for me. Morning service before color line. Preaching at 10 1/2. Funeral at 11 AM. Assisted in presentation of colors at 2 PM. Prayer meeting in evening. 

    Colors sent by ladies of Boston. Full stand national and regimental silk. Regimental show seals of Iowa and Mass. On one side the words, from your country women of Mass, seal of state on the other seal of Iowa over which is a scroll supported by two grey hounds, the words 9th Iowa volunteers. Below the seal the words, Pea Ridge, March 28. In the Blue field of the national colors with in the circle of 54 stars the same inscription as above.
