Sund 21

A pleasant day, calm and peaceful in its beginning but ere our services were fairly commenced orders came to strike tents. Being brigade service a portion of the audience composed of troops not under orders remained. Preached from Mat 13.43.46, with some freedom.

Left camp at 2 P.M. Found my old friend and scholar Robinson Barn in Division commissaires. A member of Co A 127 Ill. Took supper at a restaurant. Drunken cavalry man makes some disturbance.

The sabbath is again violated. When will men in authority learn to revere God's holy day and respect it. It is become to a national sin and for it we will yet feel the vengeance of an offended God.

Capt Towner found his brother who has just come in from the rebel army, conscripted in Texas last spring.
